STARDATE0705.21 - RACE 2 SPACE

You may have seen me mention Race2Space or R2S in my product descriptions before, and wondered what it is exactly, so here's the complete backstory...

In 2008'ish I was working out of a studio in Garberville, California, and one of my shop mates at the time, Josh Stone, approached me with an idea. He said "have you ever made your space designs on clear tubing instead of black tubing?" And I instantly knew where he was going with this; the pieces would darken in thru use and create a fully blacked-out space piece. Also a perfect homage of sorts to the older color-changing glass from the early years of pipe making! So we made two clear/space pieces and for the next few days we proceeded to blaze the pieces as much as possible, and we joked about how we were 'racing to space' ...and thus the name was born.

I periodically host a Race2Space over on my FB group, N8's Intergalactic Gazette, where we all start from clean pieces and Race2Space over a short period of time. Do you have a R2S piece already? If not you can find one here. Once you have one in your collection, come and race with us!! -N8-
